Shop Til We Drop

It’s Real and It’s Spectacular

I’ve spent the first hour of my awakeness this Easter morning becoming exceedingly obsessed with this rug, via eBay.  My “best offer” was prompty rejected, obvi. Consultation with the husband is required before countering the counter.

And it’s not some overpriced Anthropologie wannabe. It’s Persian and it’s spectacular.

Perhaps it could come live with us in a set up similar to all of this.

That would be an Easter morning miracle!

So I shop for dream rugs, what are you guys doing to celebrate – if your family celebrates Easter or Passover? We went to St. Thomas last night for the midnight vigil and then “out” for brinner.

We have a Durham Waffle House kind of love.

Shopping North Carolina: The Ivy Cottage

Another Wilmington find – you’ve got to stop at the Ivy Cottage next time you’re near the coast. Allow yourself at least an hour – I didn’t have nearly that much time to fly through and know that I missed out on tons of goodies!

Because they have three cottages AND a warehouse.

Each cottage has a pretty distinct feel. One is very country cottage feeling with lots of painted furniture and shabby chic beach house wicker.

Can you see why I would love this piece?

Red dishes, teal cabinet. Ringing a bell?

There was even a little mermaid that reminded me of the tin one that I saw at a bed and breakfast, also in Wilmington, last year.

I really liked the punched tin burning heart motif on this cabinet’s doors.

The second cottage had more high-end looking items and lots of eclectic accessories.

Just wished I had a place for this rug.

The third cottage was much more of a low key standard thrift slash antique store without many excitable items. Still very worthy of a walk through though.

I was really loving this gold mirror. It was attached to a dresser but if I were to be working on a neo-traditional room  I would have begged them to sell it to me. It would look great against a whimsical wallpaper.

Almost walked out with this bull planter, rolled up in the rug.

Such a fun stop for anyone passing through Wilmington. Have you guys ever been there?

Shopping North Carolina: Paysage

Say you find yourself an hour early for a meeting in the Wilmington, NC area. May we recommend a stop at Paysage? You may be like us and somewhat unable to afford much that they carry – however the inspiration, and “eye candy” if you will – is free.

Isn’t that chandelier awesome? It really would match anything.

The artwork in this room is really what caught my eye. It’s called “Silver Leaf Wave” by Natural Curiosities.  Update: so many readers commented on the lovely artwork in this post that we’re making it available through our own shop!

The clean white furniture, lamps and other bright accessories contrast against the dark blue wall really well. The artwork ties them all together.

The bedroom vignettes were by far my favorites. I love how nothing really matched.

I snuck around with my camera phone all icognito at first because I thought that it might be one of those places that didn’t like you to take photos inside – but then I saw someone else take a photo and I decided to let ‘er rip. I’m such a fraidy cat.

Window Shopping: T.J. Maxx

I usually bybass the whole “Maxxinista” section of T.J. Maxx – also known as the clothes – and head straight for the home decorating section. That is unless I need jeans of course. Then I stop for a $16.99 pair of circa 1998 Calvins and call it a day.

Yesterday I window shopped on my way to the thread store next door and found the following to be interesting.

Graphic thank you cards. Only $4, and they were not all pink.

Gold spray-painted coral.

But classy because it’s on a lucite base.

Considering pirate cupcakes for my birthday next month.

Did you guys not buy anything kind of cool and cheap this weekend?

You Have Until Wednesday

To scoop up this lovely lady on eBay.

She’s quite the looker and currently only selling for $95, and the shipping is only $30. That’s a steal for furniture. Have you ever looked at what Pottery Barn or IKEA tries to charge to ship furniture?

I think you should consider her. I might switch out the top with a mirror for added bling.

Window Shopping: Palm Avenue

Confession. I have never entered a Lilly Pulitzer store before in my life. For some reason since visiting Palm Avenue in Raleigh’s Cameron Village for the first time, I now feel like this was a mistake.

Look at how awesome this dining table sofa is. Would you use this?

What about these gold wall-creatures?

Or this chair?

Such a great shop full of great colors. I’ll admit my only hesitation in not turning window shopping into real shopping was the fact that Furb has so many similar items right around the corner – and it’s a local business.

On a side note Lilly also carries some of the gorg enamel jewelry from our very own shop too! Small world. That Lilly, she has great taste.
