Random Thoughts

Little of This, Little of That

First and foremost – thanks to all of you for all the wondeful comments I received after announcing my little girl dream of finding a booth for some major refurbed furniture sales. There will be more on that in the near future as I investigate so stay tuned. In the meantime if you know of a great place for me to look, want to share a booth with me somewhere, or just have general suggestions – keep ‘em coming.

Here are some other random thoughts that I’m having right about now, deemed worthy of sharing.

Thought Number One: Right this very minute I am watching HGTV’s White Room Challenge. I am so proud of them for realizing how great of a show this white room challenge business would make. It’s a great test every season on Design Star and is even better with random folks who come in just to prove their renegade design savvy. It’s kind of like Chopped for design. Me likey. Except for Adam’s room tonight - what a cluster.

Thought Number Two: In display of my own design prowess, I’ve added clothes pins to our half bathroom’s lantern. That’s right. I don’t play.

I learned such skills in Pottery Barn class.

Thought Number Three: Four, count them, four – new striped shirts have made their way into my closet this spring. Here are two of them.

No your eyes are not deceiving you. They are essentially the same shirt.

Thought Number Four:  How much fun would it be to have a husband who would condone having this flatware on his table? Every day.

Thought Number Five:  Over vacation I finally finished reading Mindy Kaling’s book. So cute and funny – makes me feel like we’re friends even though she doesn’t know me and probably has no desire to.  I’ve since moved on to this book. It’s a much slower and more scientific read but pretty interesting if you love the fur monsters like I do.

Welp, I think that’s all for tonight. How have your week’s been going? It’s already May by the way. Wowsas.

Important Happenings

According to my camera phone:

Finally sending out thank you notes for all the sweet little birthday gifts I received in honor of the big 3-0. Love these cards, they come from Caspari.

I’m still putting together a little post about the nice things I received from friends and family. The goal is to donate 2 items for every new thing that came into the casa, so as soon as we decide what to adios you guys will get the scoop.

More from the phone:

This is what happens when you hold Barton down in the backyard and tickle him. We’re total weirdos.

This is what a swordfish steak looks like. Wowsas!

No, we didn’t buy one.

Here’s an oldie but a goodie from St. Patty’s day. That’s our friend Dave’s art behind us. It’s awesome.

If you’re interested in a Dave original give us a shout – we can probably hook you up.

P.S.

I forgot to mention that this little lady also lives at the Ivy Cottage. Just another reason to visit.

That is all for now. Working on lots of fun stuff for tomorrow and beyond. In the meantime why don’t you do some shopping, we’ll ship it all for f-r-e-e.

Marriage

is about communication.

Amy: “So what do the different gears do?” (context: my Outback has a continuously variable transmission which means you can switch from automatic to manual and use shifters mounted to the steering wheel to change gears. I have no idea how to use them.)

Chad: “Well first gear is like a running back, and 2nd gear is like your wide receiver, and…

Amy: interrupting… “Honey.”

Chad: “What?”

Amy:  ”I don’t know what those things do either.”

“How about giving it to me in dogs?”

Did We Ever Tell You…

About the time that our friends put up a projector in the back yard and we all sat around a fire pit watching the Princess Bride?

Inconceivable!

For those of you who may know him this was at the infamous lady-killer Scotty T’s house. Apologies for the fugly picture.

No? Never told you?

What about that I’ve become absolutely obsessed with finding a lamp just like this one?

If you or your grandma has a lamp like this and would part with it for less than a million dollars please call me.

What about that time we went to a “pro” wrestling match in my Alabama hometown. Did we mention that?

Best five bucks we ever spent.

No? Hmmm.

Looks like we’ve been keeping too many secrets.

Yes, I am just going to leave you with that wrestling image. Oh, and with the tease that there is something else that we haven’t told you. We’re waiting on a picture before we unleash the news but it’s big. Well not like J-Lo big, but big for us.

Camera Dump

Well, the old camera phone has reached about 356 of the 400 shots it will hold. Needless to say I like to take a picture or two of randomness throughout my day. It is time for a de-clutter.

Here are the winners.

Prettiest Tree

This one was tough, because I like trees. I take a lot of photos of them. This image hasn’t been cropped or edited in any way. It was taken in the fall (of course) while sitting on the patio at Cafe Carolina in Raleigh’s Cameron Village.

Honorable mention goes to these guys.
