Movie Night

Movie Night Inspiration: Hitch

Love this movie – and like any good romantic comedy set in New York City it features regular looking people like Eva Mendes and Will Smith in regular looking apartments.

Miss Eva’s is just my style.

Colorful and cozy, miss matched and full of light.

You know we’re suckers for bright colored glass and pottery. Easy to switch out and functional.

And Hitch’s apartment is very “Chad.” Clean lines, stone, wood and leather. All he needs is some Mexican art.

We both love the simple white window seat, iron shelves (they sell similar versions at Pottery Barn if you’re in love) and that tripod lamp. We have a similar one from the flea market in our master bedroom. It’s made from an old wooden surveyor’s stand and cost us $30. Bet Hitch’s cost more.

This image is from one of my favorite scenes where Hitch is teaching Alfred to dance. “This is where you live.” Chad has to tell me that every time we dance at weddings. Picture Elaine from Seinfeld’s little kicks. That’s me – and it was me this weekend but more on that later.

Of course Hitch has a perfectly industrial kitchen that is perfect for entertaining the ladies – and inexpensive we’re sure.

Happy Sunday night, I’m totally watching this movie on TBS right now so gotta go – on a side note, Lucy is curled up next to me on the couch dreaming. She twitching her little legs and wimpering – chasing squirrels in dreamland. It’s good to be home.

Don’t Throw Stones

Literally.

This Highland Park, Illinois glass house was placed on the market earlier this year for $ 1.65 million. At 4,000 square feet and loads of 70′s – 80′s charm it’s both architecturally significant and a steal.

But we also think the memories are priceless.

No clue what we’re talking about? Here’s a hint.

Movie Night Inspiration: The Big Lebowski

This one’s for the guys. In light of Jeff Bridges’ Oscar nomination yesterday (For True Grit. P.S. We’ve seen it. Very gritty.) we thought we’d share a very short and sweet movie home to be inspired by – from our favorite Jeff Bridges movie.

We really like the mismatched chairs with the vintage kitchen table.  Oriental rugs are also great pieces that go surprisingly well with almost anything. We’d take this one – minus the pee of course.

The Dude abides.
