Blogiversary 2011
Open House This Sunday
Nope, we’re not on the market, but we are winding down our Blogiversary celebration with one final, insanely fun video! With 12 months full of photographs and references to our casa we thought what better way to bring it all full circle than by offering a little video tour of it all?
This way you guys can visualize exactly what we keep blabbering about. But please, don’t try to come steal our things – we know they are pretty sweet and all. But you’ve been warned, we have attack dogs to defend the totem pole.
Yes our front stoop needs cleaning, and yes it does appear that I’ve left out the important things like comedy or humor in this video. Apparently I’m funnier online than in person. Quick someone cue Brad Paisley.
Oh yeah, and I meant to show you the inside of our refrigerator, MTV Cribs style. I did that in take one, but my camera battery died. So after recharging I forgot and you just got a shot of the magnets instead. Total let down right? We have Dr. Pepper, beer, and a lot of cheese. There, now you shouldn’t feel like you’ve missed out on anything super important.
Anyhoo, Happy Blogiversary to us and all. We’ll quit our yammering about it now, for at least a year.
No Regis and Kelly
Remember our rad reader survey? Now wait, don’t flip out. You are still more than welcome to take part and and send us any questions you have. Whew? Right? Wouldn’t that have been horrible if you missed it? Feel free to revisit that old post and take part in our survey right here.
We found out some pretty interesting information with that little survey. For example we have more international readers than we expected, most of you are about our age which was pretty expected, and there are not nearly as many guys reading as we expected. Fellas, tell your friends – or their wives. We don’t really care, we’re just glad someone checks in on us from time to time.
For all of you who took advantage of that comment box and sent us some questions, we’re here to answer some of those this morning. There was no way to answer them all at one time without the inevitable reader glaze over. We promise that we will get to all of them eventually, but some will have to be done in individual posts to come later. In the meantime we have a little amateur film-making for you. Be warned I think I flash Barton’s junk in front of the camera a couple of times. Sorry bud.
Okay, so we completely understand the silliness of this video but in the afterglow of our Blogiversary this week we thought that this would be a much more entertaining way to answer some of your questions. Live and kinda in person.
We’re still learning how to use all this technological equipment but we hope you get the idea. We love you guys enough to put ourselves in front of a camera to entertain you – maybe next time we’ll dance. Or sing! Okay, probably not, but maybe we will teach the pups some sweet tricks and tape those instead.
Happy Blogiversary!
Holy Bananas, we’ve been blogging for a whole year! Even holier bananas – some of you guys have been reading for a whole year! We apologize for all those minutes of your life that you’ll never get back but we hope you’ve found it all worth it. We’ve definitely found the writing to be worth it. We’ve got some fun plans for this week’s posts, all in celebration of our little blog’s birthday. In the meantime we’re really just using this whole Blogiversary business as an excuse to eat cookie cake. Okay, who ever really needs an excuse for the cookie cake?
Writing with warm frosting has never been my forte…
Rather than simply leave you knowing that we’re over here enjoying a cookie cake to selfishly celebrate the fact that we’ve been writing things on the internet for a year – and that one or two people are actually reading it – we thought we’d share a few numbers about our first year to help put things into perspective.
475 - The number of posts we’ve written since starting.
624 – The number of comments our wonderful readers have left for us. Seriously. We’re obsessed with every one you post, unless you’re selling us discount drugs or ways to make money at home. Then we can do without.
114 – The total number of pint glasses we’ve obtained from Tylers Pint Night. Is this a good thing?
102 – How many projects we’ve posted about on our D.I.Y. page. Don’t worry it’s getting a mini-makeover this week to make it a little more easy to find just what you need.
40 - The number of things we’ve painted since starting the bloggity blog. This includes four curtains, two lamps and even a Habitat for Humanity house. Not too shabby.
33 – The number of Durham Magazine blog posts we’ve authored since we started that little gig in December of last year. Check out the latest right here it involves burgers and beer (big surprise).
12 – The percentage of international readers we’ve picked up along the way. Bienvenidos!
1 – The number of New Kids on the Block videos that have appeared on Triangle Honeymoon. Scratch that, let’s go ahead and make it 2 for the win.
Time for a Pop Quiz!
Can you guys believe it has been almost a whole year since our little blog began? It doesn’t feel like we’ve been writing for that long – we hope that someone else out there is reading besides just us when we need to flashback to name of an old paint color or find that old recipe. Check out our first post from last summer here.
We know by your wonderful comments that someone is checking in on us from time to time – which we seriously love. One of us does the Carlton dance everytime we get a new comment that isn’t selling knock-off purses or male enhancement pills. So keep the questions, comments and thoughts on life coming. We love it.
Aside from your comments though this whole blogging business has been a pretty one way street, which we don’t love. We want to know more about you guys, where you live, are you a lot like us? We imagine you are but who really knows? So fire away – and be sure to include any questions you have for us because we’d love to answer them when we celebrate our Blogiversary (that’s right I capitalized it) this month.
