Bloggity Blog
Give It Away, Give It Away, Give It Away Now…
We’re hosting our first ever giveaway – on someone else’s blog. How fun is that?
Hilary with one L from My So-Called Home asked if we’d be interested in giving up some primo goods for her blog readers and we happily accepted. Color us flattered that she actually likes my little pillows enough to give some away to her friends.
You can check out right here:
Isn’t she the cutest?
Gettin’ Techie With It
I may use the “gettin’ jiggy with it” substitute post title waaay too much. One thing that is super fresh and new though, is my Twitter page.
Now, if you’re on the tweeter – I do encourage you to follow me @amy_whited . Then I can follow you and we’ll be best friends. It will be fun.
I’m still getting the hang of it all, but the goal of the new Twitter account is not to just link up blog posts. In fact, I don’t really plan to link our blog to it at all as much as I plan to just take photos of even more crap that I want to buy, things that I’m eating and general musings on life. Fascinating right? Trust me it will be amazing.
So if you cannot get enough (mom!) please consider taking our relationship to the next level.
Oh, and I am also the last person on the planet to install Instagram on their phone. It’s my second app to download after the flashlight. It seems to be going pretty well.
Here’s my desk at work.
Here’s our new hydrangeas. Future post spoiler alert!
I got those backwards didn’t I?
Friends With Benefits
No creepy.
Interested? Well, this is just a “friend” ly reminder that Triangle Honeymoon does have a Facebook page. 176 of you already know this and we thank you for your interest.
For those of you who don’t “like” us or want to be friends with us on a Facebook level we’d urge you to reconsider if you’re at all interested in knowing even more of our random day to dayness.
Again, no creepy.
However, the added benefit to all of this purely plutonic suggestive language is that we I also offer updates and post sa-weet deals from Honeymoon at Home via Facebook. For example if you like us right now, you’ll see that there is one heck of a deal happening tomorrow morning only.
Need I say more?
I’m even considering signing up on the tweeter, as soon as I decide on a handle that isn’t already taken and/or lame. I’ll keep you updated.
Makes Me Wanna Wag My Tail…
Here’s a recent conversation.
Chad: Hey, there’s mail over there.
Amy: Hmm… what’s this? Picking up a handwritten letter addressed to Mr. and Mrs. Chad Whited.
Chad: Don’t know, didn’t open it.
Amy: “Dear Mr. and Mrs. Whited, I saw your new dining room in This Old House Magazine…” It’s FANMAIL!!!! Attempts a high five mid happy dance.
Chad: You’re a dork.
The end.
So of course I wrote Miss Fern from Statesville, NC back to tell her thank you for her note. And also to let her know that our dining room chairs came from IKEA - which is really the reason she was writing.
And then I put her letter the refrigerator like a good report card.
Made my year. Yes, those are Christmas stamps.
Getting Thrifty With It
One of the number one questions we get from readers is “what are your favorite thrift stores?” So while playing around with the layout this weekend I made a new blog page. You may also have noticed that I accidentally deleted our top navigation tabs and I’m told that they will never come back if I want to keep my current theme. I’m still dealing with this in my head. We’ll see.
But anyhoo – the new Thrifty Triangle page is up and running. It will grow with listings of our favorite spots with time. I know there are already tons that aren’t included but I’ll be honest, I got a bit tired of writing them during commercial breaks of Storage Wars on Sunday. That show is so distracting and seriously makes we want to head to an auction.
Check it all out and let us know what you think! In the meantime I will be praying to the blog gods that I get my tabs back. In the meantime use the snazzy new pink ones on the side.
Tacky Triangle?
We received the nicest e-mail ever tonight. Please read.
“I’m nominating you guys for Best Local Blog for the Indy 2012 Best of the Triangle! And I’m telling all my friends to vote for you too!
Though I’m torn as to whether or not it’s tacky for a company to ask for nominations, I hope you can find a way to get other votes because y’all deserve it!
Have a great week!
Rachel”
First and foremost. Thanks Rachel. Beyond flattered = us.
And we think you’re right. It could be tacky for us to ask anyone else to vote for us.
Tacky like yellow plaid.
Paired with yellow plaid.
Paired with a mullet.
And a gorilla.
Look at that stance, that swagger. Making that gorilla look good!
What can I say? Everything I do, I do it big.
All of this just to clarify that at least one of us knows a little something about being tacky.
Anyhoo, thanks for the email girly and we hope that the rest of you guys will consider throwing us a bone with Triangle Indy right here. Oh, and you can totally leave some categories blank, like best potatoes? Buy a scooter? Do what?
You only have to answer 20 of 259 categories - the blog category is dead last. You know, just in case.
