Serenity Now

The brown dog relieved herself on our dining room rug yesterday morning.

This is now under the rug on our 60-year-old hardwood floor.

The interweb tells us that if we soak a paper towel in hydrogen peroxide and lay it on the stain for a few hours it will help. Otherwise we will have to sand and refinish over the stain.

Here’s hoping.

Has this ever happened to you guys?

Easter in Saxapahaw

We’re a few days behind all the “hey look what we did for Easter!” posts. But oh well. You’re getting it anyways, we think our parents will like to see the events of the day.  However, be warned that when it’s just us on Easter there are no fancy clothes or egg hunting involved. Being outside with our dogs is mandatory though. Last year this all took place at Duke Gardens.

So here’s where we went. Saxapahaw, last seen in this post of yore here.

This was AFTER we drove out to Hillsborough and discovered that everything, and we mean everything, was closed on Easter Sunday. So the pups got some extra road trip time and no one seemed to mind.

Once we reached Saxapahaw, the General Store was all we needed to enjoy the day. A tiny bottle of Prosecco on the patio with our pups. A steak salad and a burger didn’t hurt either.

Here I am, mid-drink.

And Lucy:

Just being Lucy.

Who needs bunnies?

Intruders

This is what happens when you spray lacquer some sea creatures and let them dry in the house.

Nervous pups.

Two

is way better than one.

The Amys

That’s what I feel like I need right about now. A whole pack of “me’s” to organize the crap-ola in our casa. Side note: Have you guys seen that show? Somehow I just stumbled upon this little series set in my home state and about this woman who is a super-organizer and calls her pack of organizing lady workers by her own name. Honestly, I haven’t decided what I officially think about it all yet.

Anyhoo. The reason for all this discussion is the horrible state of all of our closets. For today we’ll start with the office closet which is looking like so:

It’s full of all the coats the Texan rarely wears, extra bedroom carpet, lots of golf balls, equipment chargers and t-o-n-s of papers. Paper, paper and more paper. This weekend was spent tackling just a small portion of that paper as part of what is now being called Junkapalooza 2012.

My weapon of choice is simply a stack method.  Sort everything out into like piles, include piles for paper to be recycled and papers to be shredded.

Following all of this a trip to Office Depot yielded me two file storage boxes for only $7.00 each.

As you can see, organization is an interesting concept to Lucy. But we’re getting pretty comfortable with the idea, especially since an hour or two took our living room floor from this:

To this:

The closet doesn’t really look any different since this was only one nasty box uncluttered. But we’re getting there.

In other weekend news, our time was spent hibernating from the cold and doing the following:

And some of us just did this which totally works too.

Little Friends…

Underwater.

Seriously. These were taken by a man with a camera.

Dear Seth.

If you ever should read this – and you probably will because our mom will try to post this to your Facebook page – please consider coming to North Carolina to do the same. While our owners are no Perez Hiltons, we’re kind of a big deal around here and a trip to the pool would be fun.

XOXO,

Barton and Lucy
