A Tip for Tins
Want a quick and easy way to reuse your old tin cans that are leftover from the peanuts, crackers and popcorn of the holiday season? I know it’s not quite the holidays yet but we believe in being prepared, especially where potential DIY projects are concerned.
Well like anything else in our house – we recommend a good quick coat of spray paint. Even though it will be hard to part with that partridge in a pear tree – in October.
To be extra thorough, use a coat of spray primer before spraying on the top coat of paint.
It’s hard to tell, but our little tin stand is actually a used Dr. Pepper can. It allowed us to prop up the tin so it didn’t stick to the drop cloth. We like to recycle whenever possible, even for small little projects like this around the house.
The finished product is nothing fancy, but a more useable, more proudly displayed tin can. These will be great for storing small items in our office like sticky notes or paper clips. And we spent zero dollars. We had the tins lying around after they didn’t sell at a yard sale and the spray paint was leftover from our candle holder project originally seen here. The shade is Exotic Sea by Valspar.
Quick, easy and useful – all for the win.
