Function – and a Little Fun

Do you guys have any annoying closet doors or dysfunctional knobs in your house? Is it really just us? For the longest time our guest bedroom, the first one as seen here,  had a closet door with a door knob that essentially sucked at life.

It doesn’t look too bad from the outsider who never tries to open the door.

But as soon as you tried, the knob would be in your hand like you stole it. After a little investigation, and by investigation we mean the first time we yanked it off, we discovered that someone had just put a screw in the hole that had been drilled for the knob and then tried to get a wooded knob to stick onto the end of the screw. Now I’ve seen a lot of McGyver, but never saw that move.

Yes, we’ve forced our guests to live with this situation for two years now. Shameful we know, but we never use that closet so it became only mildly annoying when we did need to get in there.

But alas, with all the hardware shopping we did for our now-blue desk in the other bedroom – we had no excuse not to pull out four bucks for a new closet knob. And we got a fancy one.

It came from World Market. I had to throw myself a bone after the di$appointment of my dream drawer pulls. Read the story here.

And it’s colorful like the rest of our room. We like how the green acrylic plays off our big green DIY headboard on the other side of the room.

Although we don’t have to show you have to switch out a closet door knob, we thought it would be funny to show you what was going on in the background while we did it – or I did it. Seriously, it did not take two people.

Having a hard time seeing what she’s doing? Check out this video from a past post – because it has unintentionally become video week around here.
