We Drilled a Hole in the Ceiling
It was for a good reason though.
Our finished half bathroom design is much different than the plan we started out with.
Only one item on our mood board actually made it into our finished bathroom – and that was the lantern (number 7), which we had already purchased from Home Goods before making the board.
Originally we planned to just set it in the floor besides our freshly painted red stool. But that ended up being a little more milk maid than cool garage sale find. In addition, the teeny half bath did not have an overhead light fixture and had an empty corner.
So what better way to keep the eye moving around the room than to hang our lantern from the ceiling in that empty corner?
Triangle True Value had a pack two ceiling hooks on sale for $2.00 (marked down from $4), but they were bronze – so we spray painted them white before installing them. That’s how cheap we are.
In the same trip to Triangle True Value we also picked up three feet of rope to use for hanging the lantern. We tied it in a simple knot and then hung it from the ceiling.
The final result is pretty fun and an unexpected touch for a powder room.
The rest of the half bathroom has really come together over the past few days, so we’ll be back with the final images soon. One more room checked of our list in decorating the casa.
