Possibly the Best Cookies We’ve Ever Had
And the wife didn’t make them – it’s okay she agrees with the assessment.
My Aunt Bonnie sent these Oreo Cookie Cookies in the mail this week and they were so delicious we had to share the recipe – we are lucky to have family members from across the miles who bake and mail us things. You guys are even more lucky because this recipe isn’t a family secret, so we can share it. In fact the recipe came from the foodie blog, How Sweet It Is. These cookies are another example of how blogging can lead to a better, tastier, society.
- 1 cup butter, at room temperature
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup crushed Oreo cookies (just use one row of Oreos)
Cream the butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla until fluffy. Add flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt. Mix until thoroughly combined.
Fold in chocolate chips and crushed oreos. Refrigerate dough for 2-4 hours (or more). When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350, roll into balls or scoop with an ice cream scooper and set on baking sheet.
Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes. Let cool completely, they stay really soft until they are cooled.
We promise they are delicious! Ladies (or gentlemen) take this recipe and use it on your significant other. Back in our exciting dating years the wife used to mail brownies all the way to Texas. All I’m sayin’ is she was doing something right – just be sure to send them priority.
