Recycled Curtains – Just in Time for Earth Day

Last week we posted all the pics of our recently decorated guest bedroom, check it all out here if you missed it.  We love keeping the blinds up and our Target curtains wide open for an extra light and bright feel in the room.

The guest bed has quickly become Barton’s favorite daytime hang out.

We’ve been perfectly happy with our choice in window coverings, and never really thought about adding a little extra pizzazz until we got a package in the mail from Curtainworks this week.

How great is it that the awesome people at Curtainworks sent us two Caress Voile window sheers to try out in the casa?  They didn’t pay us to say nice things or anything they just asked us to try them out and let them know what we think. So this is us letting them know we’re in love. (Sidenote: if we really didn’t like them, we’d just send them a note to tell them they weren’t our thing… we love us some swag but not enough to fib to our friends about it.)

The neatest part, and thus our Earth Day title, is that these curtains are made from Repreve Recycled Fibers. Each panel saves about 7 plastic bottles from a landfill. Who knew our soda bottles could look so good?

So like we said, we’ve never thought about adding sheers to the guest bedroom windows, but when we had a pair sitting in our mailbox that are so eco chic, why not give them a whirl?

While we love the new look, Barton does look a little miffed that we’ve covered up his view.

The sheers are a bit shorter than our curtains, you’ll remember we had anxiety about the length of our Target curtains from the very beginning, but we don’t mind the sheers being a bit shorter.  When someone is kind enough to send us some environmentally friendly swag we don’t get too picky, you know?

We love how they filter the light coming into the room in such a simple way.  It gives the room a lot of privacy while still letting the light in.  And if we had the ability to let you guys touch them, believe us we would. They are super soft and we think elegant enough that they could definitely stand alone on a window. The crisp white color would be perfect for any room.

We’ve been trying to snag some VIVAN curtains from IKEA on our last three trips because they are affordable, bright white and look really clean with any decor too. We’ve been eyeing them for our other guest bedroom, which you’ll read more about later. IKEA was always sold out, so Curtainworks may be our new go-to place for affordable but lovely white curtains. Plus they are made from soda bottles people!

We’re loving how they contrast with our smoky blue Tar-jay curtains.  We were sent two panels so we just added one to the center of each curtain rod. Our review in a nutshell. Love them. Buy them. Barton will just have to get over it.

If you go the Curtainworks website this week you can get 10% using the code EARTH11 until April 26th. Not too shabby ‘eh?
