Bringing the Heat
After many long months without fresh jalapenos in our lives, we’re getting ready to bring back the heat.
Last year we bought a little jalapeno plant from either Lowes or Home Depot kind of on a whim. It was definitely a “let’s see what happens” moment. That one little plant left us with dozens of fresh jalapenos all summer long.
So this year we are hoping to plant a couple of jalapeno plants, and have even decided to birth them ourselves – by way of a Jiffy Greenhouse seed starter tray. It cost about $2.50.
All you have to do is add warm water, until the little dirt cakes (a technical term) puff up to a chocolate cake like consistency.
Bury your seeds in the warm cake dirt, pop the little plastic greenhouse lid on and give them about a week to sprout.
We’d also recommend holding on to the instruction card for your window greenhouse since there are added steps like when to remove the lid and when to transplant your seedlings to the garden.
Our mouths are already watering thinking of this jalapeno popper recipe! Have you guys started some seeds in your kitchen windows this year?
