Magazine Monogram Art

You guys know by now that we are major cheapos when it comes to art and decorating in general.  Our guest bedroom is a great reflection of this. So far we’ve decorated the walls with enlarged family photos, a five dollar band poster from the local brewery and old wooden frames that we already had or cost us only a quarter.

We’ve stepped it up a notch for another vacant wall by splurging on the $24.99 frame from Tar-jay but filled it with something that was completely free.

It’s hard to read from this angle but you can definitely make out the “W” – which is all you’re really meant to read.

What we did was look through a magazine that we already had around the house for one of those big initials that kick off magazine paragraphs.

If you’re curious what we used, it was an old issue of Vanity Fair. It was the Brangalina issue though so we had to do some digging to find a paragraph that didn’t start off with one of their names – we’re totally team Aniston. Well, at least I am, and therefore Chad is forced to be. But don’t ask him. He’ll have no idea what you’re talking about.

Once we found a trusty “W” heading not about war or women prisoners or when Angelina’s going to stop making movies we just cut out a 2.5 inch square all around it.

Then blew it up to 400 percent on our scanner.

Easy sneezy right?

Full disclosure: we were not at all the first to come up with this idea. We’ve seen it throughout the blogosphere for years but were happy to finally get one up on our own wall. What do you guys think?
