15 Minutes to Fur

Right next door to the guest bedroom you’ve seen us working on here – is another bedroom with two twin beds in it, and not much more. We won’t confuse everyone by diving into the thoughts we have for that room until we’re finished with the first guest room.

In the meantime though we will share the story of our little dumpster diving bench.   About 5 years ago, while living in my 2nd apartment, I scooped this little guy up from my neighbor’s curb – no shame.

Of course that was w-a-y before our blogging days, so this “before” shot is really no comparison to the “before before” which was a scratched, ugly wood bench with a red carpet-like seat cushion with no cushion left to it – just holes.

This before shot already adds a couple coats of laquer, new foam and red gingham fabric. Yes red gingham. I was going for a country idea okay? I’ve since realized the error of my ways – and made yet another change which only took a few minutes to do.

What do you guys think?  All we did was unscrew the seat from underneath the bench, wrap the fur around the seat and secure it with a staple gun.

This is of course fake fur purchased at JoAnne’s fabric, so no cows or bears were injured in the creation of this post.

What about you guys? Any DIY Upholstery jobs going on out there? Any one else a reformed gingham user?
