Art a la Carte

Accessorizing the kitchen isn’t something that we think about often, but with fresh paint on the walls, upgraded appliances and the new, admittedly highly publicized, countertops in place we’ve started looking towards the finishing touches. We’ve never really been ones to pick up generic prints in the store – although we love browsing through all the options at Home Goods on a regular basis. Instead we usually opt for framing things that have some sort of meaning or memory behind them so that we can be constantly reminded of friends, loved ones, and good times in general.

We brought this same idea into our two new and modest pieces of kitchen art. During a trip to our favorite local bakery Guglhupf, we picked up one of their signature post cards, which are free little guys that have their store hours and contact information printed on the back. We picked up another free postcard at one of our favorite eateries on a recent trip to Charleston as well.

These two free souvenirs serve as nice reminders of our mini vacation over the Fourth of July (Hominy Grill) and of Chad’s Aunt and Uncle who we took to Guglhupf every day during their recent trip to Durham.

Enter two new frames from Michael’s, purchased from the clearance section, and we’ve got instant kitchen art that’s anything but generic.
