Poll: Window Coverings for the Doors?
You guys got to check out the bamboo roman shade we hung over our kitchen sink in an earlier post. Here’s another glimpse in case you missed it:
This move was purely out of necessity. We enjoy being able to see outside when at the sink, and love the extra light the window brings into the kitchen, but at night it’s nice to have some way to cover the window for a little more privacy and added sense of security.
Now the question arises, should we adapt this look for the other windows in our kitchen that also happen to be doors?
Will it be annoying to have a shade bounce around every time we open and close? Or should they be necessary for a little more privacy and safety – just like on the regular window? The french doors face out to our screened-in porch and then the back yard. The back door faces into our car port – same as the window over the sink.
What do you guys think?
Update: We’ve got the new bamboo roman shades up! Thanks for all your votes. Check ‘em out here.

I voted yes, for one reason, lol. Options! If you have no shades then you have no option to close them. If you have one then you can leave them open and sunny or close them up. Also, in the winter you can close them up for an extra draft barrier. :)
I vote yes. Order them with a valance so that you can pull them all the way up and they won’t bounce against the door but it will still look nice. You can also order the bottom with some rods poking out of the sides that will hook in at the bottom of the door so it won’t bounce when down completely (although you probably won’t be going out much when they are down completely). I think you’ll find that shades that are the same as on the other window will complete the room.
